Kolhapur News Live Updates: Five detained for keeping 'offensive' social media status are college-going minors
The five persons detained in Maharashtra's Kolhapur for allegedly keeping offensive social media account status and an image of 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan were college-going minors and a probe was underway to find what or who prompted them to indulge in such an act, police said. Earlier, CM Eknath Shinde had appealed for calm and said nobody should take law into their hands. On Wednesday, police used force to disperse a crowd after a Kolhapur bandh call by Bajrang Dal, over a status eulogizing Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan posted on some social media accounts, turned violent earlier in the day at Shivaji Chowk.
